The SPIE Optics + Optoelectronics 2025 symposium was held in Prague from 7 to 10 April. The Institute of Photonics and Electronics was actively involved, with UFE scientists chairing 3 conferences. In parallel with the symposium we organized the International Workshop on Optical Fibers (WSOF).

The SPIE Optics + Optoelectronics Symposium, one of the largest optics and optoelectronics events in Central Europe, bringing together experts in the field of optics and optoelectronic devices and presenting the latest advances in laser technology worldwide, was held at the Clarion Congress Hotel in Prague-Vysočany. The symposium is organised by the international society for optics and photonics SPIE. Scientists from UFE chaired three of the sixteen conferences, Prof. Jiří Homola chaired the conference on optical sensors, which is traditionally the largest sub-event of the symposium, Prof. Jiří Čtyroký chaired the conference on integrated optics and Dr. Vladimír Kuzmiak chaired the conference on metamaterials.
UFE also organized the 8th International Workshop on Specialty Optical Fibers and Their Applications (WSOF) at the same place and time.
